2008: A Year in Review

If you have been a good blogger follower over this past year...you have read all about my adventures. But because I tend to only talk about the things I do...you probably don't have a clue what mama and daddy have done, so I guess I will fill you in.

Daddy has been very busy this year with his Transportation Consulting firm (that, is a very big word). In January he brought on a partner...they were both working in our basement, which mama really didn't love...so in March they moved into a real office. Mama says it's a good thing they don't work here anymore, 'cause I would be downstairs "bugging" daddy all the time. A few months later they hired their first employee, then changed the name of their business from Thompson Transportation to Avenue Consultants.  Daddy's partner's background is in development and daddy does transportation, so they are able to go after lots of different types of projects.  Daddy has stayed very busy over the year with lots of work....and of course very busy with me, as I monopolize his time and attention, the minute he walks in the door.

Besides all the real work he has been doing...daddy has been doing lots of work at home.  He
put steps on our deck outside, so I don't have to
have mama lift me out the door.  He tore out all the tile in mama and daddy's shower and retiled it (with the help of Travis...thank you
again)...and then he replaced all the vanities, sinks and mirrors (he made the frames for the mirrors with his friend Preston, thank you too).  Mama has helped some.  Mostly she tells daddy what needs to be done...:)  No...mama does the painting, although I never see it happening.  I go down for a nap and a room is one color, and then I wake up and the room is a different color.  She has had a lot of fun redecorating her room and is looking forward to tackling the kitchen next year.  Mama was also in charge of our garden...mama says that she will wait a few years to plant
another zucchini 'cause she has enough in her freezer to make bread for an army.  I'm glad mama did a garden 'cause we got lots of salsa and bruschetta.

Mama has also been very busy this year with the YW in our ward.  She works with the 12/13 year-old girls.  She gets to spend every Tuesday night with them (sometimes I get to go), and she got to go to girl's camp and youth conference.  Mama loves her calling, but sometimes she gets very busy working on stuff for them and I don't get all her attention.  But most days, mama is all mine.  Mama and I spend every day together, driving in the car, going to stores, playing with my toys and watching movies.  Mama loves to watch me grow and learn new things.  She also loves to take my picture!  And if you have a couple hours you could spend them looking at a zillion pictures of me over the past year or so, and see what I have been up to.

2008 has been such a fun year.  Daddy's business got bigger, mama and daddy celebrated their 5th anniversary, I turned 1, My Aunt Christi went on a mission to Germany, I got to see Seattle 2 times, San Diego once, St. George 3 times and the back of mom's bike a lot.

Us Thompsons have been very lucky this year and our looking forward to another fun-filled year!

We hope you all had a great year too and that you have a very Merry Christmas!

Love,
Dallin
